Natural Cures for Pink Eye

Pink eye is an inflammation of the membranes covering the eyes, as well as the insides of the eyelids. This inflammation is unsightly and can be quite painful. It can also cause your eyes to be sensitive to light. Pink eye has a variety of causes that can be either contagious or non-contagious. Some viruses and bacteria can cause pink eye, as can chlamydia and allergies. If you have pink eye, there are several home remedies you can try to treat it.

The common name for conjunctivitis is pink eye. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane or conjunctiva that lines your eyelid and part of your eyeball. The cause of conjunctivitis or pink eye is commonly a bacterial or viral infection, an allergic reaction or an open tear duct that is common in newborns.

Vegetable juices have proved beneficial in treating conjunctivitis. Take about 200 ml of spinach juice and add 300 ml of carrot juice to it. Consume this mixed juice everyday and see its wonderful effects.

Damp tea bags placed on the eyes can ease the discomfort of allergic pink eye. For this boil the tea bags and let them cool before placing them on the infected eye. You can also simply make a little stronger tea and then use an eye cup to hold the lukewarm tea in each eye.

Putting drops of honey mixed in warm water in the affected eye is an effective pink eye remedy. However, be prepared for a little burning discomfort.

Prepare a poultice of grated raw but red potato or grated apple and put it on your closed infected eyes for ½ an hour. And you would find favorable results within 2-3 days.

Eyebright plant is highly effective in treating pink eyes. To 1 tablespoon of boiled water add 3-4 drops of eyebright tincture. When sufficiently cool you can bathe your eyes with this mixture.

Use Fennel. This plant although used in the kitchen for salads is also a very good herb for vision problems. When snakes shed their skin they are temporarily blinded and eat fennel to restore their sight. It can be eaten raw or made as a tea and the tea can be used as an eyewash.

Although most of the times eye problems are localized or within the eye itself, some others, the eyes reflect diseases elsewhere in the body; for example blur vision can be a sign of diabetes, yellow eyes can be a clue to hepatitis or a remarked difference in the pupil's size can indicate that a tumor is developing somewhere in the body. Using home remedies for common eye problem will get your eyes healthy again.

If only one eye is infected (take care of the other), do not touch or rub it, discharge from the eyes should be wiped with tissue and disposed off.

Castor Oil -- Put one to two drops in your eyes two times each day. Your eyes will get better within one day, but you should keep using it for a few more days to make sure it is completely gone. Your eyes will get blurry from the oil but it does not sting or hurt and in fact can be soothing. Castor oil is an antimicrobal and is excellent for healing.

Quite a number of pink eye patients claim that tea bags work especially well for most sore eyes cases, specifically the black tea bags. This solution may also be combined with some amount of honey.

Are you Yellow Based or Blue Based? Five Simple Questions

Never purchase the wrong cosmetics again by answering just a few simple questions to determine whether you are yellow or blue based skintone.

1. Can you visibly see a blue or yellow undertone in your skin?

If your answer is Yellow! You are Yellow based. Do you have a rosey or pink look or an obvious blue? Then you are most likely Blue based . It is important that you know that most people are cool toned.

2. What is your hair color? Is it your natural color? Do you have highlights? If so, are they golden or platinum?

The very obvious warm tones such as golden red hair or golden blond or any brown hair with golden highlights will be yellow toned. Most obvious blue tones would be Platinum blond hair or highlights, gray and brunettes with clarity in color.

3. What is your eye color? Blue? Green? Brown? Hazel? Gray? Black?

This is slightly more difficult to arrive at a definitive answer on color alone although certainly assists in arriving at the end result provided the previous questions are answered. Most pure Olive skin Asians and Latinos are cool toned .

4. Do you feel you look best in Gold or Silver jewelry?

Gold equals yellow and of course, Silver equals Blue.

5. Do you look best in Jewel toned clothing such as purple, royal blue, intense pinks, bluer toned reds? Pure white? Or do you look best in Oranges, browns, earth tones, yellow greens, orange red and Ivory?

If you chose the jewel tones and pure white then you are most likely blue based. Do you feel your best when you are wearing earth tones, olive green with touch of orange? It is a safe bet that you are warm toned.

There is an exception to most rules and this is in no way an exact science. The interesting aspect is that some women are quite fortunate to be neutral toned. These lucky women have the ability to mix it up with both warm and cools tones and in the end being equally complimented by both.

Hopefully, this has removed the mystery from determining whether you are blue or yellow based. If not, the good new is that many companies including SeneGence International are adding neutral products that will suffice for either side.
